If you're in NY

MOMA is showing a bunch of Fassbinder films in April. I haven't seen any of his work, and I don't claim to know much about him (I know, I know), but I'm hoping to get to a couple.

Fassbinder is so much less like homework than you'd guess. He's extremely funny and bizarre--never boring. Ali: Fear Eats Soul is the best -- one of my all time favorites -- the argument it makes still holds up to this day (at least judging from my last trip to Germany and watching outrageous displays of racism toward the Turkish immigrants.) The Year of 13 Moons and Fox and His Friends are my other favorites. Oddly, the "girl" movies never quite moved me -- too campy, too long
