Adamantium Strength
I'm a sucker. No, I admit it. Years of summer movies promising epic awesomeness and delivering formulaic crap, and yet every spring I see trailers and test screening reviews and think Maybe this could be it. It's a ritual. So this strong review of X-Men 3 makes the small part of me that hasn't been blackened by years of Hollywood letdown just giddy. It's so good, in fact, that even AICN site contributor Moriarity drops a comment titled, rather simply: Pleasepleasepleasepleaseplease. Ditto.

This is a bit disheartening to read, because I keep hoping that I'll grow out of the same thing...
But the fact that it happens, that we don't grow out of it, is what makes us movie fans. Other people do, or they never had it to begin with. We keep going back to the theater because we're suckers for Hollywood hope, er. Hype. And Hollywood, ever the pusher, always includes just enough films a year that are just close enough to The Real Thing that it's about impossible to give up.
So true. Spider Man 2 will keep me going for a few years to come...
