The band is well-named: It’s whispery sugar pop with a dark, melancholy undertone, like Black Heart Procession meets Death Cab for Cutie, or maybe like a more intimate Stars—but better. My home state of Florida, basically just a sticky, over-bright, open-air sauna, isn’t good for much, but, despite what Buddyhead says, the music scene is par excellence.
